Editing Effects

The first effect I used was on the first clip. I faded in from black on the video and also faded in the audio, this will make the opening smoother.

During the opening scene, I tried to heighten the uncomfortable aura of the characters' failing relationship so I added an unusual sound in the background and inclined the volume to get louder. This is often used as a signifier to tension and I believe it fitted very well.

This was one of the most important editing effects sequences I performed. The timeline screenshot (top), shows the layers I used to make the final product (bottom). The top layer is the hacker footage (middle), which I ultra-keyed and green-screened it out. Below that, I put the bedroom footage that the hacker is watching and a video camera overlay over it. I had to position these using scale and 3D effects to make them look like they were on the screen.

The clip above was again a use of green screen. The phone-screen was green so I ultra-keyed that and put the message under it. Similarly to the previous green-screen work, I used the 'Basic 3D' effect to position the message as if it was actually on the phone.

This sequence contains a specific style of editing where I jump cut the video with gaps in between that get smaller and smaller. At this moment, our character starts stalking a stranger so I used this advanced editing technique to try to increase the tension.
